Threats by illegal immigrants of harm they will do to themselves, their children or to others is common across the world. For instance, see this account from 2002:

The three men, five women and eight children, all believed to be from Romania, but travelling on forged Italian documents, were on a ferry from Dieppe to Newhaven when the crew became suspicious and alerted the authorities.

Immigration officials boarded the ferry and told the group they were not being allowed into Britain.

But the adults became aggressive and threatened to throw the children into the water. One woman even held a boy of about six over the side of the boat.

Seven immigrants, of the hundreds who arrive in the city of Patras in order to slam the ships to Italy, arrived until they threatened a captain that they would burn him alive

Seven foreigners, according to thebest.gr, managed to maneuver between parked trucks in the new port of Patras, hiding for as long as they needed and punishing pedestrians on a ship on the line Patras – Italy. When crew members spotted them, he followed manhunt in the ship!

Two of these immigrants arrived to the captain, whom they even threatened to burn with a naval flare held by one of them in his hand, so that they would not be captured.
