No details of the attacker are provided. Other reports suggests the attacker is Syrian but this has not been confirmed.
The man who is said to have driven a car into a group of people in front of a discotheque in Cuxhaven is in custody. The police said on Monday evening. Meanwhile, a seventh victim has reported. It had suffered minor injuries, a spokesman said. An arrest warrant for seven times attempted murder had been issued against the man. He is silent on the allegations.
“At the wrong time in the wrong place”
The exact motive of the man is therefore still unclear. “We can not make a specific statement,” said the police spokesman. Maybe it had come before the fact to a dispute in the disco. “It could be that the victims were not involved in the dispute at all, but simply because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time,” the spokesman said. However, further investigations are necessary. The operators of the discotheque contradict this presentation. They write on theirs Facebook page , that, as far as we know, there was no conflict in their rooms: “Nothing like this has been known or brought to us.”
Suspect had drunk alcohol
At the time of the crime, the 29-year-old suspect was apparently under the influence of alcohol, the spokesman said. Digestion should give a blood sample, the result of which is expected later in the week. The police exclude a political plot according to the current state of affairs.
