The number of Russians (many of them Chechens) in Brandenburg increased over 2016 by well over 300% from 2,936 to 9,733. Does Germany also have an open border policy with Russia?
The ongoing migration from Chechnya since 2015 has pushed Brandenburg to the limit of exposure in various respects.
Since Chechens often have particularly great problems with integrating themselves into the everyday life of German asylum accommodation, the state government has resorted to drastic measures. These include, for example, that the Erstaufnahmestelle Eisenhüttenstadt no longer receives people from the Caucasus republic.
Rapid upswing of immigration from Russia
In 2016, immigration from the Russian Federation had experienced a rapid upturn. As of December 31, 2015, only 2,936 Russian citizens were accommodated in Brandenburg, and one year later their number was 9,751; by August 2017, this value eventually dropped to 9,733.
