Despite the Philippine victory in Marawi over the Islamists, the country’s president Rodrigo Dueterte has stated he will not lift martial law until all terrorists are eliminated from the island of Mindanao.
The Army’s 1st Infantry Battalion was awarded by the commander of the Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) during a sendoff in Camp Ranao, Marawi City, this morning.
The Silver Cross Medal was awarded to Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Tampus and three other company commanders of the 1st IB.
The unit was also accorded the Command plaque by WestMinCom Chief Lieutenant General Carlito G. Galvez Jr..
In his message to the troops, Galvez asked the brave men to maintain the highest dignity of a soldier.
